Day 1: Fly to Vietnam
Day 2: Hanoi
– Meet your Tour Director at Hanoi’s Noi Bai
Airport, then head downtown to check in to
your hotel.
Day 3: Hanoi
– Head to a local restaurant for breakfast, where
you’ll sample pho, a type of noodle soup that is
one of the country’s most famous dishes.
– Visit Hoa Lo Prison, otherwise known as the
Hanoi Hilton, made famous during the Vietnam
War as the POW prison where John McCain
was held.
– Enjoy a morning tour of Hanoi. Pass through
Hoang Hoa Tham Street, which blooms
with flowers and French architecture, before
continuing on to Hoan Kiem Lake and
Hanoi’s downtown.
– Stroll the hidden alleyways that make up the
Old Quarter on a walking tour. Take in the
sights, sounds, and savory aromas of the area’s
vibrant night market before stopping at a local
restaurant for dinner.
Day 4: Hanoi | Ha Long
– During a sightseeing tour, visit the imposing
marble edifice that houses the Hô Chi Minh
Mausoleum, his wooden stilt house, and the
One Pillar Pagoda.
– During lunch, you’ll meet a veteran of the
Vietnam War and will have a chance to talk with
them about the reconciliation after 1975.
– Travel to the city of Ha Long.
Day 5: Ha Long | Da Nang | Hoi An
– Embark a junk (a traditional Chinese-style sailing
ship) for your cruise along the UNESCO World
Heritage Site of Ha Long Bay, which translates
to the “Bay of Descending Dragons.” During
your cruise, disembark to explore a local cave.
– Return to the Hanoi airport and fly to Da Nang.
Once you arrive, travel to Hoi An.
Day 6: Hoi An
– Immerse yourself in the daily life of a local
fisherman this morning. You’ll learn traditional
fishing techniques and paddle the river in
authentic bamboo-basket boats.
– Enjoy a walking tour of Hoi An’s Ancient Town,
which includes the famous Japanese covered
bridge, the Pottery Museum, the 200-year-old
Tamky House, the Chua Ong Pagoda, and a
vibrant market.
– Have dinner at your own pace or
participate in a Vietnamese cooking class.
Day 7: Hoi An | Da Nang | Hô Chi Minh City
– Enjoy free time this morning to further explore
Hoi An or visit a local beach.
– Dig in to a bánh mì sandwich, a staple of
Hoi An cuisine.
– Explore the Am Phu Cave. Deep inside of this
massive cavern is an artistic interpretation of the
Buddhist version of hell where sinners confess
crimes and suffer punishments.
– Fly to Hô Chi Minh City.
Day 8: Hô Chi Minh City
– Visit the famous Cù Chi Tunnels, synonymous
with the Vietnam War. The tunnels allowed
the Viet Cong to control a vital area of South
Vietnam and, at the time of the war, stretched all
the way from the Cambodian border to Saigon.
– Stroll through the lively Ben Thanh Market,
where you’ll find everything from street food to
souvenirs.
– Get the Vietnamese perspective on the war as
you explore the War Remnants Museum.
Day 9: Hô Chi Minh City
– Explore some of the country’s most enchanting
landscapes by sampan (a flat-bottomed
wooden boat). Cruise the Mekong Delta’s Ham
Luong River, stopping at local workshops
along the way.
– See more of local life in the community by
hopping on an auto rickshaw.
– Late this afternoon, travel back to Hô Chi Minh
City and head to Nguyen Hue Street for a final
farewell dinner.
Day 10: Depart for home
3-DAY TOUR EXTENSION
Day 10: Hô Chi Minh City | Mui Ne
– Travel to Mui Ne.
– Enjoy time to relax in Mui Ne, a beach town
on the shores of the South China Sea.
Day 11: Mui Ne
– During a morning walking tour along the
water, learn about the local economy as you
observe and meet fishermen returning from
their evening out in the bay.
– Enjoy some of the area’s natural wonders at
the colorful Red Sand Dunes and
Fairy Stream.
Day 12: Mui Ne | Hô Chi Minh City
– Return to Hô Chi Minh City. Along the way,
stop to visit ancient worship structures known
as the Poshanu Towers.
– Enjoy free time in the city or
take in a performing arts show at the Saigon
Opera House.
Day 13: Depart for home
